The Boston Shaker, a cocktail supply retail shop located in Somerville's Davis Square, closed because of "unfortunate circumstances," according to a statement on its website.
"We want to thank each and every member of our loyal community of savvy sippers for 15 great years in Somerville," the business's statement read. "We are thankful for all the opportunities we have had to share our knowledge, passion, and cocktails with all of you!"
The business was well known for providing the home bartender with professional-grade cocktail supplies from its storefront and online shop, which is now disabled.
Anyone from master mixologists to the cocktail novice could learn something new through the store's cocktail classes.
Customers bemoaned the shop's closing in response to a Facebook post about the sad news.
"Oh, this breaks my heart," wrote one commenter. "A treasure for sure and so greatly appreciated over the years."
"Such a bummer," wrote another. "That place was great."
